The exhibition tells the story of a molecule which, at the end of its 12-year-long journey through research and development, is submitted to the regulatory authorities in a perfected form, as an innovative medicine. The prologue as well as the epilogue of this story are formed by a hospital ward, divided into four of the research areas of the corporation. Illness stands at the beginning of the research process. What follows is the search for a lead structure, then preclinical studies, chemical and pharmaceutical development and finally testing with human volunteer subjects. The visitor experiences this complex development process brought to life on 28 laboratory benches all the while under the watchful gaze of statues of saints and images of employees.
