In Chinese tradition, these bottle-shaped gourds known as “hu lu” were used to carry wine, medicine and potions. They were also tied to the backs of people as a symbol of life preservation, or to ward of evil spirits and diseases. As such, the gourd holds auspicious associations to protection, good fortune, blessings and happiness in life. This tea cup is designed in the shaped of a gourd and composed of three parts: the lid, the body and the tea infuser and strainer. With a double-layered glass body, the cup is comfortable to hold even when filled with hot tea.
