From neglected young people to abused babies, the reality of child protection is disillusioning. That’s why the identity of the child-protection agency Jeugdbescherming Rotterdam Rijnmond was designed to be deliberately simple, direct and real. The logo, a turquoise rectangle, stands – literally and figuratively – in front of a young person, protecting them like a shield. The design features no superfluous embellishments, no childish figures. The documentary-style photographs of young people are taken up close and are highly personal. They show the children and youth in their own living environments, with their emotions clear for all to see.
