“Closing Down – All Stock Reduced” is based on the thesis of sociologist and consume researcher George Ritzer, who, aside from the idea of the “McDonaldization of Society”, coined also the sociological term of “Nothing”. In this work the artefacts of the consumer society are seen as impetus behind the phenomena of the “Globalization of Nothing”. The focus is on advertising worlds, which are situated in the urban area, such as billboards, signage systems and shop front signs in European metropolises. The monochrome and consequent design of the work underlines its concerns regarding the content. It contains extensive picture galleries and interviews with experts in the fields of architecture and visual communication.
