The Delta Bionic Metamorphic Robot is an assembly line robot that is capable of 3 degrees of freedom, as well as rotation around the z-axis. The mobility of its moving parts allow the robot to adapt to a wide range of tasks like rapid sorting, packing, and casting.
Inspired by a spider’s form, the robot’s legs mimic the joints of its arachnid muse. This departure from the static forms of traditional production machinery translates into a lightweight robot that can be folded up and transported with great ease, while its sprawling legs allow it to be easily integrated with other mechanical equipment in production lines. Another remarkable feature is the speed and high acceleration rates its moving parts are capable of – its makers estimate that it can reduce production costs by 20 to 30 percent.
