Dymaxion Car Buckminster Fuller

Back Download

With the streamlined Dymaxion Car the American inventor and architect Buckminster Fuller realised his vision of the automotive future. The car drove on three wheels, was steered by a single rear wheel and could turn within its own length – a revolutionary concept that was abandoned due to a severe accident. In 2008 Norman Foster, an architect like Fuller, resurrected the car. The bilingual book illustrates the history and the serious accident of the Dymaxion. It presents extensive material – from historical documents and photographs to the newest construction sketches – and provides an insight into the two-year long manufacturing process.
