This retail interior combines a sales room with a production site. The G2G shop allows customers to see how new clothes are made from old ones in a glassed-in area framed by container elements. The double-glazing shields the retail space from noise and simultaneously ensures good visibility of the production process. The design pays tribute to both old and new building elements, for example by using traditional metal gates to flank the shopfront. Pillars inside have been left untouched to reflect the design philosophy “old is old, new is new”.
Statement by the Jury
The design of the G2G shop is impressive for the successful transformation of an old building into a modern commercial and production space.
