With its black cover, red edging and three golden bookmark ribbons, the book “God sees everything in the holy state of Tyrol” is reminiscent of a prayer book. As a matter of fact, it documents the many varieties of popular religion. Ranging from depictions of the Holy Trinity or Pietàs to crucifixion groups, the complete Catholic inventory created by Tyrolean believers is recorded and explained. The book presents image sequences arranged according to specific topics, such as “Halo and crown of thorns”.
