“Searching for peace” is the motto of the Katholikentag 2018 (German Catholic Congress) and also the motto of the corresponding campaign, which is intentionally not based on a single key visual. Instead, moving, provocative and private images, which are unlike any church clichés, show ways in which people search for peace. The deliberately chosen newspaper coverage style of the images captures, polarises and encourages onlookers to embark on their own search for freedom. The motifs continually change as the congress, scheduled for May, approaches, thus conveying the complexity of the topic.
