The M1 is an autonomous mobile 3D mapping robot which creates photorealistic indoor 3D maps and uses new technologies such as real-time 3D SLAM and hierarchical motion planning. It features an extended distance and speed measurement system, an accurate sense of proportion, and it scans at a speed of 300,000 points per second, with a horizontal field of view of 360 degrees and a vertical field of view of 30 degrees. The conical shaped body, with engine and batteries at the bottom, lowers the centre of gravity and increases driving safety.
