Professional tool

As part of the ongoing digitisation, projects and tasks have become increasingly complex. The Mac Pro projects a powerful design appearance, which is built around a special space frame with a removable aluminium housing, and combines it with high-performance technical components to form an innovative concept. It has been developed for professional users who need high performance and vast configurability. Eight expansion slots and many extremely high-bandwidth connections offer a plethora of individual expansion and configuration options. The performance of the Mac Pro is based on an Intel Xeon processor with up to 28 cores. Six channels of superfast ECC memory and 12 physical DIMM slots allow for up to 1.5 TB of RAM. Since many professional applications require a high-performance graphics architecture, the Mac Pro features the innovative Mac Pro Expansion or MPX module to deliver impressive workflow capabilities. Designed as an integrated component of the Mac Pro, the form factor of the module enables a larger heat sink, which works in concert with the machine’s internal airflow to dissipate heat in a remarkably quiet way. This enables demanding users to complete numerous tasks faster when working on huge, processing-intensive projects, such as animating 3D film content, compositing 8K scenes or building lifelike game environments.

Statement by the Jury

In case of the Mac Pro, all elements combine to form an enormously powerful overall system. Consistently integrated into the special architecture of the space frame and removable aluminium housing, all connectivity and expansion options are easily accessible to users. Equipped with powerful components, the Mac Pro offers a new workflow approach that allows tackling many demanding applications from GPU rendering to machine learning and particle simulations.
