In Korea, craft beer occupies less than 1% in beer market and small breweries struggle to survive the harsh environment of the Korean drinks market. Inspired by this dilemma, Mclang Saloon emerges to change the situation. “Mclang” as a word in Korean means “the golden wave of barley”. The semi-circular Mclang graphic represents the barley, wave and the Korean flag. To express passion, creativity and craftsmanship, all printed matters are produced using Risograph.
Mclang Saloon introduces 6 different beers a week and archives stories of brew masters, craft beers and the breweries. It also produces a “Drink Map” yearly that catalogues all the local breweries in Korea, their locations and their contact information. All small breweries that are supported by Mclang have a bottle label with the semi-circular Mclang graphic. Mclang Saloon seeks to be the information hub for Korean craft beer and to provide constantly up-to-date craft beer guides for beginners, as well as other craft-beer-related merchandise for the community.
