For the orientation of the employees and visitors to the pbr Planungsbüro Rohling AG in Osnabrück, the company introduced a signage system that was drafted in line with the corporate design. Using two typefaces of the linotype Univers Condensed, the guidance navigation makes the inscriptions fit smoothly and reservedly into the heterogeneous building and points to the individual divisions by giving information of the appropriate indices. The strength of the lines results from the size of the typeface Univers. Directional markers are bent in an angle of 45 degrees, without being assigned to a direct area, but instead each to a corresponding larger unit. The direction and goal navigation differs in its materiality and chromaticity. The inscription is directly attached to the carriers, such as on glass, finery and cabinets, and thus further underlines the reduced design approach and appeal of its overall appearance.
Statement by the jury
»Although the grey colour is used sparingly, it achieves a contrast strong enough to stand out against the transparent glass panels and white walls. Characterised by long-stretched arrows, an austere typography as well as inscriptions identifying offices and architectural building units, this well thought-out navigation system is highly accurate and purist in its function.«
