When the main stage of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg underwent major renovation work, a temporary stage was created from a minimalist platform visible from all sides. The aim of the related advertising campaign, which included these posters, was to show an audience used to devouring visual material just how attractive this age-old form of theatre can be. So as to allow the stage to adapt to the changing demands of plays throughout the season, a reduced yet intelligent illustration style was developed. The aim was to embody the essence of each piece, arouse curiosity, elicit surprise and also encourage people to visit the theatre.
