The communication and exhibition design of the Portugal Pavilion at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai creates a visual identity that is based on country-specific themes. The cork facade of this pavilion was inspired by bearings on ancient nautical charts, which were now translated into a triangular morphing grid representing the country’s 500-year-old relationship with China. This design element can be found in all related communication media and conveys a dynamic effect. Cork is furthermore an ecological product that remains widely unknown in China.
