The poster series Research announces six lectures held at the Academy of Art and Design Offenbach by communication designers on the topic of design research and its different approaches. The posters show stick figure illustrations of simple and reduced design to create an imagery that reflects at a glance the different hypotheses and individual theories. These ironic and inventive sketches – such as the one on the topic of “Vorglühen, Aufglühen, Verglühen!” (“Pre-heat, glow, burn!”), which shows one stick figure trying to give a light to another but producing a huge flame instead – aim at raising curiosity and interest. The colours of black and white suffice to spark the vivid imagination of the viewer and direct the attention to information presented in an equally minimalist design on the bottom edge of the posters. Statement by the jury »The beauty of this series of six black-and-white posters lies in the simplicity of the dash-line illustrations in combination with a harmoniously matched typeface on the one hand, and the original and distinctive appeal thus achieved on the other. The six skilfully rendered motifs put the topic of design research in a humorous light and aim at sparking dialogues about the different positions and approaches followed within the institute.«
