Season Programme 2011/2012

The season programme of the Schauspielhaus Graz communicates both upcoming premieres and the theatre ensemble. The title is the result of a search for a common denominator of all plays and is inspired by the thematic notions of irritation, knowledge and ignorance. The graphic design realises this idea on a meta level: inspired by popular science magazines of the mid-20th century, the programme features fake editorial contributions about seemingly serious yet absurd scientific content, which are flanked by information graphics that, at first glance, seem to provide real evidence. In addition, a visual photographic concept was developed for the plays, in which theatre employees are the main actors. They are shown in utmost bizarre scenes, while the end of the book depicts the ensemble members as participants in a fictitious convention with, however, weird and absurd details. The programme thus manages to successfully convey the objective of the theatre: a radical turmoil of all certainties. Statement by the jury »This work is highly imaginative and funny. It possesses a bizarre touch in the most positive sense, as the photographs tell their very own, weird stories. What is special here is that this succeeds in creating a unique identity and that the members of this theatre thus achieve a similar kind of mediation and attention that they aim at through their work.«
