The Porsche Sound Lab is at the heart of a multisensory pop-up store, moving from New York, London to Shanghai and other world metropolises, that impresses visitors both visually and with 7.1 surround sound. With the help of “visual mapping”, different driving scenarios including surroundings are projected onto a Porsche 911. The sound design and production are made from field recordings and live cuts, combining up to six layers of engine noise with environmental sounds to create an authentic feel. In addition, special engine recordings were also made on a dynamometer at Porsche in Weissach.
