As its name implies, The Same Strain.Ceramic is a family of modern ceramic receptacles that takes its cues from its predecessors in ancient China. A round cauldron with three distinctive legs, the Ding was used for everything from cooking and storage to ritual offerings to the gods and ancestors. The Same Strain.Ceramic echoes this versatility by employing the design principle of modularity – with a common diameter, ceramic parts can be mixed and matched to create new vessels depending on the occasion and intended use. The family also retains the Ding’s distinctive handles and contours, ensuring that its presence in Chinese history continues to live on.
