Dismissing newspapers as relicts from the past is almost considered fashionable in the digital age. The objective of this brochure is to show that newspapers, whether printed or digital, are essential to a democracy and that they have by no means lost relevance. It redefines the core benefits of newspapers for both society and the advertising industry in the digital age by postulating that newspapers have contributed to creating a smarter world every day for over 400 years. And because technical advances will allow this to be achieved even better in the future, the brochure turns the newspaper itself into building material, out of which this world is growing to everyone’s benefit. It rises symbolically from the paper, developing new forms and layers.
