How are typefaces created that are suited to effectively communicating visual identities? The present book explores this question. In five chapters, it comprehensively depicts the whole process of designing a typeface, while also providing information on working techniques and food for thought from experienced designers. The book is supplemented with a case study, which illustrates the process of designing a serif typeface for orientation systems. In addition, it contains sketches, an overview of visual principles, and also background information on typeface programming.
