ZhuaJi Doll

Back

The ZhuaJi motif has special significance in Chinese art history. It originally rep-resents the patron saint of the Chinese nation but has also been given other connotations. The illustration refers to the old tradition but, at the same time, creates a modern interpretation. It combines the art of paper cutting with modern design and uses bold colours and new graphic elements. Moreover, the illustration combines things which seem to be mutually exclusive and thus es-tablishes a link to the traditional theory of Yin and Yang and creates room for interpretation.
