Prof. Steffi Hußlein

Steffi Hußlein is professor of Interaction Design at the Institute of Industrial Design at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and leads the Master’s programme in Interaction Design. As an expert in human-planet-centred design, she combines digital transformation, human behaviour and product-oriented aesthetics with speculative design concepts – in particular “Beyond Human and AI”. She develops and supervises interactive embedded and immersive experiences with social, ecological and technological relevance. Her research focus in interaction and UX design is on participatory interfaces and co-creation with AI. Forward-looking design solutions for people, society and the planet. Her international experience includes teaching and research stays in the United Kingdom (Leeds College of Art, University of Edinburgh, University of Dundee), Jordan (GJU) and China (Academy of Arts Hangzhou, CDK). In industry, she has worked for meta design, bvm and icon mobile, among others, with a global reach. At the beginning of her career, Steffi Hußlein worked in industrial design and completed a degree in gold and silversmithing. In 1999, she graduated in product design from the Institute for Time-Based Media at the Berlin University of the Arts. Key stages in her career include her professorship in interface design at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Bauhaus Dessau) and her work as a researcher and co-founder of the Interface Design Lab at Potsdam University of Applied Sciences.
