The design of the wireless headphones has made the AirPods so popular since their introduction in 2016 that their contrasting appearance can now be seen almost everywhere – in the city, at work or during sports. Everywhere, the contoured shape of these in-ear headphones is easy to recognise. The compact shape is designed to place sound directly in the ear. Thanks to spatial audio, users can now enjoy a three-dimensional, room-filling listening experience and control the various functions via force sensor to listen to music, pause or skip songs and answer and end calls. When making calls, the user’s voice is always loud and clear. The built-in microphone in each in-ear bud is covered in a special acoustic mesh to minimise wind noise when on a call. The AirPods are also resistant to sweat and water. The battery charges quickly and lasts a long time. Combining the power of the H1 chip with an Apple-designed acoustic system, the new AirPods feature Adaptive EQ based on computational audio to deliver breakthrough sound. Adaptive EQ thus automatically adjusts the sound based on how the AirPods sit in the ear. To connect the AirPods, users simply need to place the in-ear headphones next to the iPhone or iPad and pair them in their iCloud account.
