Staging light as a physical phenomenon on more than 1,000 pages is this nine-part book series. The author humorously explains relevant topics, using the course of a day in her flat as an example, starting backwards from going to bed at night (quantum mechanics) to getting up in the morning (the Big Bang). The so-called “red shift” of light serves as a visual, connecting theme. This effect makes light appear redder the further away its emanation source is located. Correspondingly, the colours of the chapter pages and several illustrations gradually change from purple to red. The project was inspired by a television science programme and the responsible astrophysicist, who also supervised this dissertation.
