Back To Home is a place where parents can enjoy their golden years, children can find refuge from a hectic life, and the owner can enjoy retirement. This five-storey townhouse has one common area on the first floor, the parents’ bedroom on the second floor, the children’s and owner’s bedrooms on the fourth floor, and the hall of worship on the fifth floor. The courtyard is the soul of the house, holding the spirit of the family together and connecting the entire space as well as the relationships that span generations. Although each family member has their own independent space in this house, they can still interact with one another across the staggered balconies that face the courtyard from their own rooms. The courtyard allows sunlight and breezes to flood into each room through the two side windows, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that reflects the warm and strong familial bonds. Back To Home was designed with the elderly in mind, with the goal of providing a safe and peaceful living environment. The design emphasises barrier-free flow and an accessible environment through the use of bright lighting and safety rails. Because the townhouse surrounds the courtyard, another hidden and separate set of stairs leading to the elder’s room could be built for added security. Despite the fact that the owner is not with their parents, they can put their minds at ease and look forward to a perfect retired life with their family in this house.
