The trend towards ever better film production quality in combination with shorter production cycles means the demand for camera systems that efficiently combine recording, storage and processing has never been greater. This is exactly where Blackmagic comes in with its digital URSA Cine 12K film camera. Developed for high-end cinematography, TV and documentaries, it combines outstanding image quality with a pioneering networked workflow. At the heart of the new camera system is the high-capacity cloud storage technology that allows filmmakers to share recordings with stakeholders even during the shoot. This is in part made possible by a removable media module with an 8 TB storage capacity that enables over four hours of top-quality recording. The other reason is that recordings can be offloaded to networks or the Blackmagic Cloud via the Blackmagic Media Dock in a matter of seconds. In this way, teams at different sites can access film material immediately and in real time for cutting, colour correction or other post-production processes. This innovative storage system is enhanced with a newly developed full-frame sensor. With a 12K resolution and 16 stops of dynamic range, it delivers Hollywood-level image quality at the same time as offering great creative freedom. The impressively durable camera body features a magnesium alloy chassis with a lightweight carbon fibre polycarbonate composite skin. Its modular construction allows it easily to adapt to different optical systems. Additional accessories such as microphones, external monitors and controls can be integrated seamlessly thanks to the standardised connectors.
