Civet coffee is one of the world’s most expensive coffees. It is marked by a special flavour because the coffee beans have been eaten and defecated by Asian palm civets. Recently, many civet farms have been established, confining the animals to live in cages and be force-fed. In a comparable way, elephants are kept for coffee production. These illustrations seek to raise awareness for the suffering of the captive animals. Using the discrepancy between a cheerful drawing style and brutal content, the aim is to trigger a salutary shock among consumers.
