Canary is an indoor air quality meter whose design resembles a canary on a perch. Miners once kept these animals in cages to detect gas build-up in the mine. Because the product is used in a room or vehicle, the designers’ requirement was that it had to harmonise with various interiors. The device is available in rose gold, silver and brown. “It is characterised by a functional and high-quality design, which succeeds in evoking emotions not only through its form, but also through the rhythmic lighting,” the jury found. The light simulates the heartbeat of a living organism and displays the air quality values.
