Chewing Beat - Eating Rhythm Regulating Earphones

返回 Download

Insufficient chewing is a critical lifestyle factor contributing to obesity risk, but chewing frequency has rarely been given due attention. Chewing Beat, an advanced chewing informatics monitoring system, utilises wearable earphones to regulate eating rhythm and leverages musical tempo as a 'corrective technology' in Human-Food Interaction (HFI). The team began by focusing on the influence of music on people's diet-related behaviours, especially their chewing speed, and created a system that uses music tempo as cues to influence eating speed. Chewing Beat earphones work with music rhythm as a contextual cue to modulate rhythmic chewing speed. The earphones integrate three types of sensors: PPG (photoplethysmography), blood flow of the ear concha, and microphone. This innovative product for biological rhythm regulation provides a new solution to mitigate unhealthy chewing habits and promote slower and more mindful eating. 'What you cannot sense is what you cannot manage' - this product was designed with the idea that musical rhythms technology perfectly echoes rhythmic chewing perception. This groundbreaking innovation not only mitigates unhealthy chewing habits but also fosters a mindful, deliberate approach to dining, transforming how we savour each moment at the table.
