COPE’s design goal is to create a welding robot that is intelligent enough to adapt to changing welding objects and tasks. Based on the structure of the six-axis robot, it proposes to add several working joints such as a modular external welding gun, auxiliary displacement unit, working path planning space, multi- modal monitoring platform, intelligent teaching system, and so on to improve welding efficiency and reduce labour costs.
For auxiliary tasks like positioning and cleaning during the welding process, COPE assembles a trinity auxiliary positioner in the workspace. The unit revolves around the main robot and rotates on the assembly round table. This mode shortens the time the welding robot spends waiting for loading and unloading and greatly improves the assembly line’s overall efficiency.
