Count on Me

This educational book about numbers was illustrated by the hands and the imagination of autistic children in order to communicate the difficulty of autism. Its design, however, shows an enviable level of creative intelligence and imagination. The book’s cover is warm in tone, but its presentation without any inscription serves to surprise the reader and visualise the aspect of social isolation. When placed among typically colourful children’s books, it stands out. On the inside pages, the reader encounters an enclosed world of confused, chaotic, and sometimes loud and incomprehensible messages, which, throughout the book, get a more intelligible form and show the creative, rich, expressive and un-usual world of autistic children.
