Crowds of people on the streets, swarms of birds across the sky and billions of grains of sand at the beach – masses characterise our environment immediately and often go unnoticed. This bachelor thesis explores the fascination of masses and quantities. It focuses on the visual appearance of masses, analysing their shape, structure, dynamics and density. Formally based on the design of the mass medium newspaper, it compiles the results into a coherent synthesis of theoretical paper, photographic exploration and graphic visualisation.
