Today, available on demand at any time, viewers have come to expect ever more cinematically engaging performances, including even in live broadcasts of sports, concerts and other events, which is due in particular to the large number of films and series that are often elaborately and expensively produced. The FUJINON HZK25-1000mm broadcast lens was developed specifically with this in mind. As a dual-format box lens with 40x zoom and an extreme focal length of 25 to 1,000 mm, it can be mounted on cameras with large-format image sensors. The lens enables camera operators to zoom in very close to the action and capture film-quality footage – for example, with a precise depth of field or a bokeh effect where the subject stands out from the background due to a shallow depth of field. Furthermore, the high performance of the lens also requires corresponding optical components, which is reflected in the fact that the box lens weighs in at around 30 kg. The weight and size prompted the design team to also pay special attention to the ergonomic quality of the lens in order to create a product that could be easily transported, placed on the camera and operated by a single camera operator. Close observations of the shooting processes and movements of camera operators led to the idea of providing the lens with deep recessed grips at the upper edge. These grips extend over almost the entire length of the lens body and allow the user to hold it securely near the centre of gravity.
