Book
ILR 14 20
This book tells the “hidden” stories of seven formerly illegal immigrants in the UK who were the last people able to legalise their overstay as Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) according to the Amnesty Act 14-year rule before it was changed to 20 years. The aim of implementing elements like reverse printing and cut-outs was to visualise the associated socially problematic time of uncertainty between illegal overstay and officially recognised right to stay. In order to visualise both this shadow world and the keywords of “anonymous”, “obscure” and “double-edged” characterising this publication, the book features a transparent design.
