When the water is eliminated, the ingredients are concentrated into a pure essence that enhances the culinary experience. The concept of reduction in cooking can also be transferred to product design, and it is this principle that defines the INFINITY cookware. In the development process, the designer consistently focused on minimalism to achieve a functional design that eliminates all unnecessary details. “INFINITY is both sleek in appearance and practical in use,” was the jury’s verdict. “The flat lids with their double-wall structure are very effective in ensuring that no heat is transferred to the outer surface.” A plastic ring around the stainless-steel knob makes the lids easy to grip, even when wearing oven gloves, and the slender yet sturdy silicone handles provide convenient handling. The scale markings inside the INFINITY pots for liquid measurement improve both reliability and convenience in the cooking process. Pots with a strictly cylindrical shape and straight sides guarantee even heat distribution and good vapour circulation. The material choices also have functional significance. For example, the lightweight aluminium inner walls provide excellent thermal conductivity from the bottom to the sides, while the outer walls are made of stainless steel. As a result, the cookware is extremely robust and durable, but it can also be used on all common types of hobs. The functional advantages of the material choices are complemented by the harmonious appearance and tactile contrasts of smooth, cool metal and soft, warm silicone. Despite a commitment to minimalism, the designer added the elegant extra of an embossed elephant – the manufacturer’s logo – standing guard on the lids as a charming and distinctive additional detail. “The entire range has an extraordinary aesthetic that visually communicates its practicality as cookware,” commented the jurors. Reduction is a proven recipe in product design that delivers excellent results.
