Nova - Auto Epinephrine Injector

返回 Download

Nova is a compact, discreet auto-injector designed to make emergency epinephrine administration more intuitive, approachable, and sustainable. Existing devices like the EpiPen often feel clinical and intimidating, especially to young users or those unfamiliar with medical tools. Nova reimagines the auto-injector as a calming, user-centred object that can be carried with confidence, not fear. Its symmetrical and pocket-sized form makes it easier to grip and operate with either hand under pressure. A simple colour-coded system guides the user step by step, without relying on digital displays or complex mechanics. The casing uses just two materials — a durable, recyclable shell and a replaceable tip component — streamlining disassembly and improving environmental performance. Unlike the original EpiPen, which was designed with a one-year lifespan and often ends up in landfill unused, Nova's non-medical components are built to last 10 to 15 years through refurbishment and reuse. A take-back programme leverages Amazon's return network across the US. The users can scan a QR code, package their used injector, and drop it off at a participating location. By minimising both psychological and environmental barriers, Nova not only saves lives, but it also redefines how people interact with emergency healthcare products.
