Touchswitch

Contemporary smart home concepts based on intelligently coordinated components help save both energy and time in modern homes. The design of the Touchswitch reinterprets the form and function of the user interface required for home automation. The aim was to come up with a clever solution for the often numerous and confusing number of switches, elements and functions. Reduced to one element in the size of a light switch, the Touchswitch allows 12 different functions such as lighting, ventilation, shutters, awnings and entire room moods to be controlled via the touchscreen of the unit. Users can create different scenarios and name the settings individually via an accompanying smartphone app. They can also make them easily identifiable by assigning icons or colours, which ensures easy orientation later in use. The minimalist design of the Touchswitch intentionally puts the clearly structured user interface centre stage. The high-resolution touch screen also gives users a high degree of individual freedom in controlling and editing the desired actions. Users can also easily choose between different pre-configured themes for the interface and thus by changing the appearance, adapt it according to their preferences. An exciting innovation that facilitates interaction is presented by the unit’s on-board sensors. A proximity sensor, for instance, monitors if a person approaches, and when a user is detected, the screen turns on instantly.
