United in Diversity

This facade projection installation for the two premises of the European Central Bank is part of the Luminale 2016 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The theme of the generative installation is focused on European symbols, along with the official motto of the European Union “United in diversity”. The starting point for the light installation is the European anthem, an excerpt from the prelude to “Ode to Joy” from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. The music is graphically interpreted into forms and colours on the facade of Frankfurt’s Eurotower. While the anthem served as inspiration for the basic graphical patterns, some of Europe’s empirical sociocultural facts are used to alter the generative code into ever-changing structures.
