Out-of-Home Campaign
VinziRast Gets You Back on Your Feet
VinziRast is one of the most important facilities for homeless people in Austria. In order to collect donations and to make the concerns of the homeless heard and noticed, especially in the all-overshadowing Corona crisis, life-size 3D installations were made to illustrate the important social role of this institution. Cardboard was chosen because it symbolises the sad situation of the homeless in an impressive way like no other material. Authentic cardboard boxes were assembled into individual, life-size cardboard figures. The resulting artworks became touching symbols, fragile but proud memorials that caught the eyes of the urban public in Vienna’s most popular squares. Printed QR codes led to a website compiling true stories of formerly homeless people who eventually found a home in one of the VinziRast night shelters or in social housing.

This out-of-home campaign stands out with really strong, innovative and touching features. With the material of the cardboard, which is the epitome of the issue of homelessness, the artistically designed figures hit the core of the topic and communicate the work of the social organisation with its appearance and the stories behind it in an absolutely apt and poignant manner.
