The design of the Volkswagen up! follows the criteria of “semplicità” – simplicity of form and line. The vehicle offers perfect proportions for a city car, as the long wheelbase and short overhangs ensure that optimal use is made of its small footprint. These elements, combined with its short, dynamically sloping bonnet, lend the car an unmistakable form.

With well-thought-out line management, the designers succeeded in conveying high aspirations with regard to quality and precision. As the front of the car is reminiscent of a smiling face, the vehicle also renders a very congenial and likeable impression.
