Water buckets are an essential part of an everyday cleaning kit. However, traditional bucket designs have its problems, one of which occurs when the user is trying to fill a bucket with from a basin tap. This requires the user to tilt the bucket at an awkward angle to fit the bucket between the water tap and the basin. Sometimes, it would be impossible to fill the bucket completely. Furthermore, removing the bucket from the sink requires the user to tilt the bucket again, often causing spillage. This is a waste of water and negates some of the efforts of filling the bucket. To prevent spills and overflows, and to facilitate more convenience filling the bucket, a half-bowl attachment is simply added to the interior of the WATHIELD bucket. The attachment swings outwards when the bucket is tilted, acting as an extended surface area to catch the water and bring it in gently. This allows the bucket to be efficiently filled and prevents spillage. WATHIELD is an example of adaptive design. It offers a solution to an existing product with simple adjustments and builds on the familiarity of user’s experience. Users do not need to learn how to use a new product or change their habits.
