Committed to exploring how modern manufacturing methods can stimulate the innovative possibilities of traditional materials such as solid wood and veneer, the designer created the Willow Chair to showcase the purity and gentleness of the wood as much as possible.
This chair is both comfortable and charming thanks to the computer- generated hyperboloids. Danzer 3D veneer and an 8-axis CNC milling machine was used to help materialise this chair and emphasise the pure characteristics of the wood as much as possible. The logic of its ergonomic form dictates how the parts should be carved, bent and joined together. Just as willow branches sway in the wind, the curves running through the Willow Chair demonstrate the rare softness of wood.
