The Yisabu Memorial Park in Samcheok, South Korea, reconstructs the historical, cultural and landscape heritage of an area whose historical significance was once buried by industrialisation. The “Disclosed Nature” project exposes the original topography by excavating the land, reactivating water features and incorporating local materials and plants. The park commemorates General Yisabu’s journey to Ulleungdo in 512 AD and transforms the site into an accessible narrative. It serves both as a garden for local residents and as a tourist attraction.

The well-thought-out design concept of the Yisabu Memorial Park combines historical reconstruction with a poetic reinterpretation of the historically significant site.
