The recycled material for these unusual tiles has an unexpected source – aluminium aircraft parts. The alloys used to make these parts give them a particular strength, which means they cannot be recycled using traditional methods. It is only through a special process that it has become possible to melt the aluminium into blocks. These are then cut into durable tiles which are suitable for use as heavy-duty floor covering or distinctive wall cladding.
