Red Dot

Red Dot stands for belonging to the best in design and business. Our international design competition, the “Red Dot Design Award”, is aimed at all those who would like to distinguish their business activities through design. The distinction is based on the principle of selection and presentation. Excellent design is selected by competent expert juries in the areas of product design, communication design, and design concepts.

 

About Red Dot Design Award

The distinction “Red Dot” has become established internationally as one of the most sought-after seals of quality for good design. In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the award breaks down into three disciplines: the Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. History

The Red Dot Design Award looks back on a history of more than 60 years: in 1955, a jury meets for the first time to evaluate the best designs of the time. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Prof. Dr. Peter Zec develops the name and the brand of the award. In 1993, a separate discipline for communication design is introduced, in 2005 another one for prototypes and concepts. You can find out more about the history here.

Peter Zec

Prof. Dr. Peter Zec is the initiator and CEO of Red Dot. The entrepreneur, communication and design consultant, author and publisher developed the competition into an international platform for the evaluation of design.

 

Red Dot Design Museums

Essen, Singapore, Xiamen: The Red Dot Design Museums enchant visitors all across the globe with their exhibitions on current design, and all of the exhibits have won a Red Dot Award. To the museums.

 

Red Dot Edition

From the Red Dot Design Yearbook to the International Yearbook Brands & Communication Design to the Design Diary - more than 200 books have been published in the Red Dot Edition to date. Red Dot Institute
