Conference "Smart Materials for future Design" in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany

Materials and technology are the driving forces for innovation in design. They open up new fields of application for designers and manufacturers, thus contributing to a better quality of life in terms of elaborate products. Dedicated to that topic, the conference "Smart Materials for future Design" will take place in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany on 18 November 2015. During the event new materials and processes in the fields of "Smart and emotional Material," "Biobased Materials & Lightweight Design“ as well as „The next big Thing - Additive Manufacturing“ will be discussed.

In addition to numerous speakers from science and industry Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot, will hold the opening keynote. The high-caliber team of speakers includes among others the Red Dot jurors and material experts Professor Martin Beeh from beeh_innovation Cologne and Dr. Sascha Peters from Haute Innovation Berlin.

The day of the conference will also be the opening of the special exhibition "Smart Materials for Better Design" in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen. Until 10 January 2016, the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 from the category "Materials and surfaces" and the prize-winning products of the interzum award 2015 will be displayed.
