Red Dot: What kind of an environment did you have in mind when you developed the Z-Bar Titan?

We envisioned the Z-Bar Titan as a luminaire that would blend harmoniously into both large work areas and sophisticated living concepts. The aim was to make a bold statement with a lightweight look and to provide functional lighting without overwhelming the interior space. Z-Bar Titan is designed to promote concentrated working and creativity. Its dimmable LED light allows brightness adjustment in order to suit different moods, from productive workplace illumination to soft and relaxing ambient lighting.

How important are flexible lighting scenarios in interior design today?

Versatile lighting concepts are more important than ever before. People want their living and working spaces to be capable of adapting more effectively to work, relaxation and everything in between. That is precisely what Z-Bar Titan offers. A freely rotatable head enables the user to conveniently switch between uplighting, downlighting and angled lighting to create any effect – ranging from dramatic highlights to soft diffused light. This type of flexibility makes it possible for designers and users alike to create different lighting scenarios with a single luminaire.

Are luminaires often underestimated in interior design? And to what extent is Z-Bar Titan more than just a light source?

Yes, luminaires are often just seen as accessories, yet they have the ability to set the tone and rhythm of a room. The Z-Bar Titan is much more than just a lamp. It is a dynamic, interactive object that engages with the user. The adaptability features encourage physical interaction and allow the user to shape their environment in real time. This participatory relationship transforms the lamp into a personal statement piece.
