Leave it up to the experts with Artificial Intelligence
Numerous products that work with artificial intelligence (AI) are already on the market. In the last years, more and more AI-based concepts and products have been awarded in the Red Dot Award as well. Designers are invited to present concepts, prototypes or ready to launch products that are characterised by AI in the award.
These are examples of winning concepts from past years using machines to help design, analyse or in general make a decision that best suits the user’s needs.
Peak personalisation using AI and 3D printing
Bezier will suggest a frame based on the unique shape of a face or reconfigure another style based on information analysis. To make it extra special, additive manufacturing techniques that allow for the undoing of screws or other extra binding elements are used.
Levelling up in progression
A tennis coach is not available right now? The Tennis Mat with artificial intelligence, designed by EMAMIDESIGN, records the impact position and impact force of tennis balls that hit the silicon mat. Visual sensors also record the number of strokes applied. The measurements are automatically transferred to the smartphone, where an app evaluates them and thus shows the where he can improve.
Science fiction at your fingertips
Consisting of elements that could come directly from a science fiction film, the concept MOTOROiD by Yamaha Motor shows a motorcycle that enables communication between humans and technic. For example, the motorcycle uses face recognition to interact only with the driver and can react to gestures, biometric data and movement. The unusual concept was awarded with the highest award of the competition, the Red Dot: Luminary, in 2018.
Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2022 is open for submissions.
