Red Dot presents award-winning products at the “Design Korea” trade fair

From 9 until 13 November 2016, “Design Korea” takes place again in Seoul. Once more, Red Dot shows a selection of current prize-winning products at the largest design business exhibition in Korea. Since 2003, the fair is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) and organised by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP). It brings Korean and international companies, designers and buyers together, presents latest trends and offers the participants a forum for exchange and networking.

Besides objects from around the world, about 50 products which received a prize for their good design in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016 will be on show at the KINTEX Exhibition Center. An exhibition which is surrounded by ca. 300 fair booths is the center piece of the professional event. The awarded items will be presented divided into the categories home & living, furniture & interior, clothes & fashion, leisure & health as well as stationery & toys.

Among the objects which Red Dot will be presenting at Design Korea 2016 rank the “Asus Chromebook C202SA” notebook, the “instax mini 70”  instant camera for which Fujifilm received the Red Dot, and the also awarded backpack collection “Garde” by Samsonite Asia. Besides the “Shaquda UBU” makeup brushes by Mizuho Brush, the “P’8678”  sunglasses by Rodenstock, the “Low Pressure Vacuum Cooker” by South Korean manufacturer Roichen and the smart robot “iJini” by innoplaylab, which also comes from South Korea, will be on show, too. The Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2016 – the Blackmagic Industrial Design Team – is , among others, present with the professional video monitor and recorder “Blackmagic Video Assist” for which the team received the Red Dot: Best of the Best.

At the moment, designers and manufacturers have the opportunity to enter their products into the Red Dot Award: Product Design again. The award is one of the largest product competitions in the world. For more than 60 years, it has offered a fair and independent design benchmark. The award’s 40 strong, international jury evaluates every product submitted live, on site and only awards the Red Dot to those that stand out for their good design quality. The application phase for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 is divided into three distinct stages: the “Early Bird” phase ends on 2 December 2016 and is followed by the “Regular” stage which ends on 20 January 2017, then “Latecomer” has a closing date of 8 February 2017. The laureates will be officially announced and honoured in the course of the Red Dot Gala in July 2017.
